authorities & crematoria
Do you have contact with authorities & crematoria?
25 years of experience - funeral culture: We know our stuff and are well connected with authorities, funeral offices and crematoria. Our wealth of experience in connection with the topics of farewell and remembrance, which we have built up since 1998, as well as our holistic view of people, form the basis of our work. We always maintain trusting contact with authorities and crematoria in Switzerland. This enables us to carry out all the necessary steps in a serious manner, right up to handing over one of our unique urns to the relatives and survivors.

How are the urns shipped?
Each urn is carefully packaged and delivered in an extremely sturdy and padded shipping box, even to private customers. Cost-effective, climate-neutral delivery with the Swiss Post and, if desired, personally delivered internationally by express or FedEx. We will be happy to take care of all the necessary consultations and formalities to make this easier for you.

Individualization & advice on funeral arrangements
How can I make an urn a special keepsake?
We would be happy to advise you personally on the possibilities and concepts for turning one of our urns into a very special, personal keepsake. We also share our experiences with scattering ashes or a burial at sea with a water urn and explain the areas of application of the urns designed for this purpose. The idea of keeping a mini urn as a keepsake, for example a sign of memory® , is also popular. We can also engrave this for you with a name, a quote or the coordinates of a possible scattering of ashes.
What is a water urn?
Our water urns are specially designed for lake and river burials. They are ephemeral and water-soluble. We advise and support you within the framework of the legal regulations in preparing a lake or river burial in Switzerland and show you how you can arrange the transfer of the ashes into the water in the closest family circle with a water urn and, if desired, even with our specially designed urn bag. You can find more information here.
Can I label an urn?
All metal objects are numbered in a limited edition. You may also want to add an ornament or a personal engraving (name, saying, quote) to an urn. Contact us for further information.
Which regulations must be observed?
There are few regulations and restrictions when dealing with an urn. We would be happy to advise you personally.
Can you give us individual advice?
We would like to encourage family members to be active and creative and to create an individual farewell together in the spirit of the deceased. By arrangement and prior registration, you can receive personal advice from the artist in the studio and showroom of Urne.ch. If you purchase an urn or a service directly from Urne.ch, you will receive free individual advice worth CHF 150. Otherwise, this advisory service may be invoiced.
The advice is friendly and discreet and we always maintain trusting contact with authorities and crematoria. This enables us to carry out all the necessary steps in a professional manner, right up to handing over one of our unique urns to the relatives and survivors.
Price inquiries for unique and individual pieces and advice on the possibilities of individualizing and artistically painting an urn are only offered and carried out in the Urne.ch studio and in personal contact with the artist.
Reburial & Closure
Is an urn sealed?
Most of the urn creations from URNE.CH have a simple lid closure that can be closed in a variety of ways. Depending on the intended use, the lid is closed permanently or in such a way that it can be opened again. In the vast majority of cases, this is done by the competent authorities or the undertaker. We are also happy to offer assistance on site in our URNE.CH studio. Some special urns in our collection have special twist-lock mechanisms. This allows the urn to be opened and closed at any time. Contact us for further information.
Can I have some of the ashes transferred to you?
Yes, at Atelier URNE.CH we are specially equipped to rebury ashes and have the necessary experience and equipment to be able to do this for you with dignity.
urn size
Do you want to use the urn as a keepsake object for storing all or part of the ashes?
There is often also a desire to keep the ashes within the family in various urn creations or to retain some of the ashes for a certain period of time.
Our urn objects contain information about the volume in the description. Thanks to our many years of experience, we were able to make the urn size as compact as possible.
Which urn size should I choose?
The Atelier Urne.ch creates urns in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and designs. For an adult, you can stick to the "standard" size . These urns have a volume of 3.5 - 4.5 l. The use of smaller urns can meet various needs, whether it is dividing the ashes or storing some of the ashes after scattering. The small urns are also used for children. Here you will find children's and memorial urns.
For small and medium-sized objects, we recommend that you refer to the table below. This shows how much ash is produced during cremation. Based on these values, you can estimate the volume required and select the appropriate urn size accordingly.
