Our story began in 1996, when Thomas Schär came up with the idea of challenging the conventional urn format and created, conceived, and designed the ‘cosmicball collection’ shown here. Since then, this art project has evolved continuously. The core team around the artist ‘cosmicball’ is small and operates from their studio in Zurich.

The Urne.ch urn collection is handcrafted in Switzerland, based on the designs, concepts, and mold construction of ‘cosmicball‘, with a variety of small Swiss manufacturers. In addition to its Swiss location, Urne.ch is also committed to social work and supports jobs for people with disabilities.
