Wood

By its very nature, wood is an ecologically sound and sensual material. The wood for our urns comes from sustainably reforested and maintained Swiss forests. A large portion of our manufacturing is carried out in collaboration with workshops for people with disabilities. The idea, concept, and design here also come from ‘cosmicball’ Thomas Schär.

Clay / Ceramics

Our urns are produced in small batches and also as unique pieces by Swiss potters based on ideas, specifications, designs and the mould construction and design of ‘cosmicball’. The surfaces remain natural or are engobed, polished or decorated. Some urns are hand-turned, artistically finished by hand, engraved or painted, or printed with special motifs in high quality.

Metal

The ‘cosmicball’ metal urns are often both art objects and sculptures. When displayed and exhibited in special locations over a longer period of time, they can also become a unique keepsake. Based on the ‘cosmicball’ designs, design, and mold construction, these urns are handcrafted in small editions and as unique pieces in collaboration with select Swiss metalworkers. They are then meticulously finished, polished, chrome-plated, or painted.

Organic / ecological

These urns are made from exceptionally natural, ecological, and biodegradable materials. They are also ideal for indoor use. Placing them outdoors or in the ground encourages natural decomposition of the urn, allowing the ashes of the deceased to return to the natural cycle without harming the environment.

Patina

Surfaces that naturally have patina or develop it are a symbol of our transience. ‘Cosmicball’ has developed various processes to express the theme of transience by developing a variety of patina surfaces.
