URNE.CH cosmicball collection" celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018/19 and published the first of the 5 ball of love® "icons" series this year. In the next 10 years until the anniversary year 2029 / "30 years of URNE. CH cosmicball collection" 4 more series of 5 will be published - every second year a series of 5 with further selected personalities, icons. Meaning, background of the term "icon": The word "icons" comes from the Greek "eikón" for “Image”. When you think of conventional icon images, you primarily think of cult and holy images of the Orthodox churches. The images, which are usually painted on wood, are consecrated by the church and have great significance for the theology and spirituality of the Eastern churches. The purpose of the icons is to show reverence to awaken and create an existential connection between the viewer and the depicted and to God. Icons are neither viewed as art objects nor as decoration in the Orthodox Church, but are an essential part of Byzantine art. Icons of modern times: With the transfer of the idea and concept of icon painting to a modern object and the borrowing of elements from conventional icon painting such as the halo, a field of tension arises. The uniqueness of our existence is intended to be underlined through the modern icon motifs, selected, outstanding personalities and stars with cult status, from various eras of postmodernism to the present. Without fear of authorities and church authorities and with the awareness of one's own transience, the ball of love "icons" series celebrates a new consciousness, a contemporary, new culture and dimension of saying goodbye and "remembering". Creation ball of Iove ® + idea and concept "icons": "cosmicball" Thomas Schär Illustration, painting: Sibylle Heusser. Only available as complete installation “Icons” No. 1. IS IT PERMITTED TO BUY A SPECIAL URN YOURSELF?
Yes, in Switzerland it is customary and permitted to independently choose and purchase an urn for a deceased loved one and decide freely what to do with it. If you have chosen a biodegradable, eco-friendly urn, it can be used for burial in a cemetery or in nature. An urn that does not decompose can be placed indoors or outdoors, allowing you to keep the memory of your loved one alive in a dignified and special way.
URN DELIVERY – FAST – RELIABLE
We deliver our artistic, hand-crafted urn collection made in Switzerland quickly and reliably. On request and subject to availability, delivery can be made by the next day. Each urn is carefully packaged and shipped in a sturdy, padded shipping box to private customers, government offices, crematoria or cemeteries throughout Switzerland. Cost-effectively and climate-neutrally with Swiss Post. For an international order, please contact us.

WHICH URN SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

For an adult, you can generally follow the size specification “Standard, regular size: 3.5–4.5 l.” These volume specifications apply exclusively to the designs and concepts of Urne.ch. As a rule, this is the correct size for an adult, regardless of the deceased person’s height, age or weight. You can find an exact table for children and adolescents here.

WHERE ARE THE URNS CREATED BY THE ARTIST COSMICBALL THOMAS SCHÄR MANUFACTURED?

SWISS MADE

Our hand-crafted urn collection is manufactured exclusively in Switzerland. With the exception of some stainless-steel objects and specific “small parts,” we use natural, ecological and resource-efficient materials. Swiss raw materials such as earthenware, ceramic clay products and sustainably regrown wood from Swiss forests are also processed.

RAW MATERIALS FROM SWITZERLAND

We process locally available Swiss raw materials such as earthenware, ceramic clay products and sustainably regrown wood from Swiss forests.

WHAT IMPORTANCE IS ATTACHED TO SWITZERLAND AS A LOCATION?

RESOURCE-EFFICIENT, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRODUCTION

Since all urns are manufactured 100% in Switzerland, transport distances are extremely short, limited to Switzerland and therefore highly resource-efficient. We ship our parcels climate-neutrally with Swiss Post under the “pro clima” label and have been committed for many years to obtaining eco-friendly and solar energy from the ewz Zurich energy utility.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT

In addition to working in the artist’s studio and in small craft businesses, Urne.ch also works with facilities providing employment for people with disabilities. URNE.CH has been a certified member of Swiss Label since 2003 and is therefore entitled to display the famous SWISS MADE label and promote it worldwide.
This diverse and wide-ranging commitment has also been recognized in numerous exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad.

RELIQUARY AND MEMORIAL URNS

Whether you wish to retain a small portion of the ashes as a keepsake or are faced with the difficult task of choosing an urn for a child, our special children’s and memorial urns offer a way to remember a special person in a dignified and unique manner. If you wish to keep only a trace of the ashes, our sign of memory® and our urn jewelry provide a beautiful and dignified way to preserve them.

If you wish to scatter the ashes at a special place later, the urn can remain as a memorial object.

CAN I BUY MY URN DURING MY LIFETIME?
Yes, you can choose and purchase your very own personal urn now. The urn can also serve as a symbol and companion throughout life, in which you can keep deeply personal items.
